Loading your brush for best results.
We prefer to use acrylic liquid paints for all of our stenciling. They are relatively inexpensive, offer a huge range of colors, and dry almost immediately allowing us to shade and blend. Our stencil brushes hold a lot of paint, so to avoid any mishaps with our projects, we load our brushes as follows:

Place a small amount of acrylic paint onto your palette or paper plate. Hold your brush perpendicular to your palette and dip it into the paint only until you get some on the flat part of the brush. (Avoid pushing your brush all the way down and getting paint all over the edges.)

On a thick folded good quality paper towel, remove what seems like all of the paint by swirling the brush into the paper towel in a circular motion using firm pressure. Now cross the brush back and forth on the towel to make sure the paint is off the outer bristles.
